Trying something new for the family blog … we’ll see if it sticks. All the pictures and blog posts are together now, which is nice. Many of the links are still broken, but I’ll fix those over time.

Back when you could walk outside without a coat, Papa Richie hosted a most excellent bonfire with all the right bonfire ingredients: Shooting of BB guns, eating of chili & hot dogs, watching of outdoor movies, and of course a gigantic container of cheese balls. Pictures are in the gallery.

It’s probably not fair to extend this story to apply to all girls and all boys, so I’ll just leave it as a story that highlights the difference between our specific boys and our specific girl.
Joy got the kids alarm clocks today, something they’ve been begging for for a long time. Within minutes of getting their clocks, the boys had theirs plugged in, the time set, an MP3 player hooked up, and the alarm set.
Much later, I checked in on Lana. She was standing staring at the clock in frustration.
“I can’t get this thing to do ANYTHING”, she complained.
“What are you trying to get it to do?” I asked.
“Anything!”, she exclaimed, throwing up her hands.

If you compare the back-to-school 2010 photo with the one from 2009, you’ll see that someone lost braces and someone picked them up.

Dear serviceperson,
Thank you for protecting our country and keeping us safe. You are very brave and generous for being in the military. Holidays are coming up and I wish you a happy holiday. People in the military deserve good holidays because they have to be away from their family a lot. I hope you have a good holiday. A lot of people don’t realize how much the military does for us so thank you, thank you, thank you.
Sincerely,
Lana

The summer of 2010 was a big one for Jonathan … literally. He is now officially taller than Mama Glenda. Who will he pass next? Could be you!

For hourly or weekly rental: One ditch-digging dog.

Annie is an eager worker that will meet all your ditch-digging needs.

A careful and considerate worker, Annie will tenderly remove sod and top-soil for replacement later.

As with any high-performance athlete, Annie does require frequent breaks. These breaks re-energize Annie so she can better meet your ditch needs.

This morning as I walked past the boys on my way to work I casually said “Hurry up and get ready - the bus will will be here soon.” Aaron saw through it immediately but I totally got Jonathan.
